The security world is changing before our very eyes. And with every dramatic headline about the latest high-profile security breach, cybersecurity is increasingly becoming a board-level issue. However, business leaders have had to leverage complicated, technical metrics, which are far from business-consumable.

In fact, according to a recent report, Gartner predicted that “by 2017, 80 percent of IT risk and security organizations will report metrics to non-IT executive decision-makers; however, only 20 percent will be considered useful by the target audience.”

IBM to Acquire Agile 3 Solutions

That is why I am extremely excited about IBM’s announcement of the planned acquisition of Agile 3 Solutions, a leader in business risk dashboarding and data visualization.

IBM and Agile 3 have been strategic business partners for several years and, in that time, have helped organizations around the world bring the C-suite into the security decision-making process and take action to protect their business-critical data. Soon, as part of IBM Security, we can continue our mission to make the critical data protection process business-consumable.

Intuitive Insights

Founded in 2009, Agile 3 provides comprehensive and dynamic views of data-related business risk to business leaders, providing an intuitive data-risk dashboard and control center that helps uncover, analyze and visualize risks so that the right action can be taken to proactively protect the business. Agile 3 helps organizations answer questions such as:

  • Which business lines carry the greatest risk?
  • What sensitive data is at risk?
  • How valuable is the at-risk data?
  • Who owns the data?
  • Which users are putting data at risk?

In the weeks and months to come, we will continue to make additional announcements about new and innovative ways that our customers will benefit from Agile 3 Solutions’ technology.

Why maintaining data cleanliness is essential to cybersecurity

Not only does it provide organizations with critical information regarding their systems and processes, but it also fuels growth and enables better decision-making on all levels. However, like any other piece of company equipment, data can degrade over time and become less valuable if organizations aren’t careful.
